When you need an energy works certificate

Insurance companies, banks and councils often request energy works certificates before they will provide cover, finance or consent. The most common situations we certify:

• Insurance and finance. Many insurers require certification before issuing cover on a new home purchase, and finance often depends on that cover being in place.
• Building consent (BCA). Council requires certification of electrical work as part of the consent process.
• Power restoration. If a property has been disconnected for 6 months or more, your energy retailer will require a verification before switching the power back on.
• Older or modified wiring. A certificate of verification confirms existing homeowner wiring is safe and compliant.

Getting you certified

2. Get upfront pricing. We'll provide a quotation for the work involved before booking in your site visit and assessment.

3. Get booked in. We'll set a date and time for our qualified, experienced and licensed electricians and inspectors to thoroughly investigate your electrical installation and issue certification.

Our investigation process

If we find that your installation is safe, we'll issue certification on the spot.

If we find minor issues, typically we can fix them right then and there, allowing us to issue certification immediately. Your electrician will let you know of any associated additional costs before proceeding.

If we find major issues, we'll immediately disconnect any section that poses a fire or safety risk, provide reports, solutions and associated costs, and once the remedial work is complete we'll return to re-inspect and issue certification.
