The main situations we run into for power theft (meter bypass) are marijuana grow operations, and theft for high draw appliances (often things like Spa Pools)
Most of the time the bypass will be crudely installed, and easily detectable.
We often find that they are unsafe due to the crude way they were connected (especially as they cannot be easily switched off)
However we’ve also encountered very sophisticated power theft setups, complete with internet-based control and remote monitoring.
If your meter has been bypassed for power theft,
We’ll need to get on site to repair the installation , before we issue certification
DETAILS
Pricing is to disconnect the bypassed power section and repair the affected upstream connected cabling, getting the system back up and running - legally.
On completion of the job, we’ll issue and electrical safety certificate, certifying that your installation is back to normal and electrically safe.
NOTES
Pricing is a minimum charge, and includes a labour allowance of a maximum of 1 hour - along with materials for disconnecting the bypassed sections and restoring the mains cabling.
Pricing does not include:
- Replacement of damaged fittings and/or protection
- Restoring bypassed sections back to standard power supply
In some cases the meter will be affected, with cut seals.
In these cases, the meter may need to be re-sealed by a 3rd party inspector before we can certify the installation.
This can be completed after power has been restored.
In all cases, we’ll let you know the appropriate solution and any associated cost prior to carrying out any additional work.

Our job is to get your power back to normal.
We have no obligation or interest in reporting findings to any authority.
We will detail exactly what issues we’ve found - and the work we’ve completed to solve the issues - in our job descriptions / invoicing / certification.
This information will only be disclosed to the person or entity who requested the job.
